Barge worker awarded $14 million settlement

Jeffery Yates, a former barge worker, has been awarded a $14 million settlement from his former employer, Hercules Offshore.

Mr. Yates was struck by a falling pipe which had been temporarily tacked to the barge's derrick. When normal work began on the ship again, the vibrations caused the pipe to become loose and fall 90 feet before striking Mr.Yates in the head.

Mr. Yates was represented by Houston, Texas personal injury firm Arnold & Itkin LLC.

Google maps directed into court!

A woman in California is suing Google maps for a personal injuy claim, claiming their directions sent her down an unsafe road, which resulted in her being hit by a car.

The woman, Lauren Rosenberg says she followed directions that she had been provided with from Google Maps and that they led her onto a highway,which had no pedestrian walkway or sidewalk, and on which she was struck by a car.

Brother of New York Giants DE Mattias Kiwanuka in Critical Condition

Mattias Kiwanuka's brother, Benedict, is in critical condition after being involved in a motorcycle accident last Friday in Indianapolis.

The brothers were spotted speeding down a street in Indianapolis at approx 2 in the morning when Benedict's bike was hit by a car exiting a car park.

Benedict was rushed to the Methodist Hospital with multiple injuries, in particular a severe arm injury. The driver of the car was not badly hurt but still brought to the hospital. Mattias spilled from his bike but was not injured.

Toyota ordered to hand over Thousands of documents to Plaintiff's Lawyers

Judge James V. Seina today ordered that Toyota had to hand ove thousands of pages of internal documents from government probes to class action attorneys who are representing Toyota customers bringing wrongful death and othe personal injury charges against the car manufacturing giant.

While this isn't the most pleasant personal injury case to read before lunch it does show the extent of cases and circumstances that personal injury law can cover! A 21 year old Philadelphia Phillies fan, Matthew Clemmens, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to purposefully forcing himself to vomit on a man, Mr. vangelo, and his 15 year old daughter who were in the seats of the 21 year old fan during the Phillies-Capitols game on Tuesday night.
