BP have yet to pay out on Bodily Injury claims from Gulf oil Spill

Though BP claims they will pay out compensation on all "legitimate claims" arising from the Gulf Of Mexico Oil Spill and that they have written checks for over half of the claims brought against them, newly released information shows that the company has yet to pay out on any of the 1105 claims for "bodily injury".

The 1105 bodily injury claims consist of 1,105 claims for compensation for bodily injury, including 298 claims for respiratory ailments, 275 claims for anxiety or stress, and 261 claims for nausea.

Many Deckhands Will Struggle To Claim Compensation From BP Oil Spill

Many laborers and deckhands who have suffered losses as a result of the BP Oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico will have a hard time receiving compensation to cover lost wages as a result of not having the proper documents to prove they are entitled to this compensation.

Many of the laborers and deckhands get paid in cash and therefore don't have a way of proving their losses to the courts.

Ford to pay compensation to woman in Personal Injury case

Ford Motor Company has been sued successfully in a personal injury case by a woman in California who, after being involved in a car accident while driving her Ford Explorer, was rendered quadriplegic .

Ms. Cynthia Castillo was driving down a freeway when the left rear tire of her Ford Explorer de-treaded causing her to lose control of the vehicle which then veered off the road and rolling down an embankment 3 times. The accident left Ms. Castillo's legs paralyzed as well as much of the rest of her body.

Judge Halts 6 Personal Injury Lawsuits Against GM

A bankruptcy court judge has stopped the personal injury lawsuits of 6 plaintiffs against GM, in an order filed yesterday.

The personal injury lawsuits were filed against the old GM , now officially known as Motors Liquidation Co.

However, according to the terms of the sale of the old GM, when the core of old GM was sold to new GM, personal-injury plaintiffs were prevented by the terms of sale from suing the buyer on account of autos sold before bankruptcy.

Phillies Phanatic facing Personal Injury Lawsuit

The Philadelphia Philies famous mascot, the' Phillie Phanatic', has no reason to be cheering and jumping around today as he is faced with a personal injury lawsuit from a 75 year old woman.

The incident occurred at a minor league game in 2008 and Ms. Crass is now looking for over $50,000 in injury compensation.

High Number Of Illnesses In Louisiana related to BP Oil Spill

CNN.com is reporting that 162 cases of illness have been reported to the Louisiana state health department, all related to the BP oil spill in the Gulf Of Mexico. Of the 162 reported cases, 128 were from people who worked on the oil rig or helped in the clean up operation.

The department’s weekly oil spill surveillance report says that since the oil spill occurred, 120 male workers, 8 female workers and 9 men and 25 women from the general public have complained of illnesses allegedly linked to the spill. The age of the people reporting illnesses ranged from between 18 and 64.

Jump In Number Of Personal Injury Claims In The UK

The number of personal injury claims made in the UK has drastically increased, according to a Law Gazette report. The number of personal injury claims made in the UK rose by 31.8%, from 914 in 2006 to 1,205 in 2008. This is a surprising statistic as the Compensation Act of 2006 was introduced to try and reduce the number of personal injury claims made as it imposed registration requirements on claims management companies and created the Ministry of Justice's claims management regulator.

$300 Million Agent Orange Bill Set

35 years after the Vietnam War has ended, the US and Vietnam have agreed upon a 10 year, $300 million 'plan of action' to deal with the health and environmental side effects of their use of Agent Orange during the Vietnam War. Agent Orange is a herbicide that was used during the Vietnam war. The spreading of this herbicide resulted in 400,000 deaths and disabilities, and 500,000 children were born with birth defects after the war. BP Agrees to Set Up $20 Billion Fund For Spill Victims

BP has revealed that they will set up a $20 billion fund to pay compensation to the families and victims of those affected by the oil spill in the Gulf Of Mexico.

The fund will be led by attorney Kenneth Feinberg, who was also head of the fund which paid compensation to the families and victims of those affected by the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The agreement, which comes just a day after President Obama said BP would have to pay for all the damage it has caused, is not fully finalized yet.

The $20 billion figure matches that which was recommended by the congressional Democrats.

New Jersey Bar Found Liable In Fatal Drunk Driving Accident; Could Pay Up To $15 Million In Compensation

Rack's Bar & Grill in Atco, New Jersey has been identified as being 75% liable in the 2007 death of Mary Elenbark and faces paying up to $15 million in injury compensation.

Mary Elenbark was riding on a motorcycle with her husband George on the night of the accident when they struck by Steven Evans, who was drunk driving.

Mr. Evans had been drinking at Rack's Bar & Grill and the bar had continued to serve him alcohol, even after it was obvious that he was intoxicated.
