Ford to pay compensation to woman in Personal Injury case
Ford Motor Company has been sued successfully in a personal injury case by a woman in California who, after being involved in a car accident while driving her Ford Explorer, was rendered quadriplegic .
Ms. Cynthia Castillo was driving down a freeway when the left rear tire of her Ford Explorer de-treaded causing her to lose control of the vehicle which then veered off the road and rolling down an embankment 3 times. The accident left Ms. Castillo's legs paralyzed as well as much of the rest of her body.
Judge Halts 6 Personal Injury Lawsuits Against GM
A bankruptcy court judge has stopped the personal injury lawsuits of 6 plaintiffs against GM, in an order filed yesterday.
The personal injury lawsuits were filed against the old GM , now officially known as Motors Liquidation Co.
However, according to the terms of the sale of the old GM, when the core of old GM was sold to new GM, personal-injury plaintiffs were prevented by the terms of sale from suing the buyer on account of autos sold before bankruptcy.
Automobile Insurance Fraud On the Rise in Northern Florida
The task force set up by the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) in Southern Florida to tackle auto vehicle insurance fraud seems to be working.
However, the task force's presence down south has led to criminals moving north to keep their illegal actions going.
Between 2008 and 2009, there appeared to be a 290% increase in questionable claims related to staged auto accidents, in Tampa, Florida.

According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), the number of staged car accidents taking place is on the rise.
Between 2007 and 2009 the questionable claims (QC) filed for suspected staged car accidents rose by 46%.
The reason behind these staged accidents is to try and get compensation from innocent individuals and the practice is widely used by gangs, who practice preplanned auto accident scenarios involving 2 to 4 cars.
Chrysler jeeps and Dodge Minivans recalled
thousands of Chrysler jeeps and minivans have been recalled because of the discovery of defects within them that may heighten the risk of car accidents.
Chrysler have recalled almost 575,000 vehicles because of a brake line and wiring defect. The defect is causing the vehicles to leak brake fluid which can partial loss of brakes in the affected wheel.
Last week, Chrysler issued a recall for 35,000 Dodge Caliber and Jeep Compass vehicles due to sticky accelerator pedals that are failing to return to the idle position.
Largest Ever Personal Injury Pay Out in Yolo County Auto Accident Case
Michial Jacobs today has been awarded $1.5 million in compensation, the largest ever settlement in a personal injury case in Yolo County.
The record setting settlement is the final outcome from an accident which took place in October 2004, where Mr. Jacobs's vehicle was rammed into by a rig carrying 40,000 pounds of sugar. The rig upended Mr.jacob's vehicle and the trailer it was towing.
The sugar carrying rig was working for both Pacific Transportation Services and Ernie Newland, both out of Washington.
Yamaha Face Personal Injury Trouble Over 'Rhino' UTV accidents
Yamaha are facing a high number of lawsuits over their 'Rhino 660' utility-terrain vehicle (UTV) and it's safety problems, in particular is 'unsafe' design.
This is the first case in which Yamaha have been forced to pay, with the implication that future cases may be settled in the same way, leading to millions of dollars in costs for the company.
Brother of New York Giants DE Mattias Kiwanuka in Critical Condition
The brothers were spotted speeding down a street in Indianapolis at approx 2 in the morning when Benedict's bike was hit by a car exiting a car park.
Benedict was rushed to the Methodist Hospital with multiple injuries, in particular a severe arm injury. The driver of the car was not badly hurt but still brought to the hospital. Mattias spilled from his bike but was not injured.
