Explosion at US Steel Coke works injures 15 people

An explosion which occurred at 9 30 a.m. today at a US Steel Coke Works outside of Pittsburgh has left 15 workers injured.

The explosion occurred at U.S. Steel Corporation’s Clairton Plant, the largest coke manufacturing plant in the US. A cause for the explosion has yet to be determined.

Most of the injured suffered burns, with 2 of the injured in critical condition.

According to the Post-Gazette, this is the second explosion at the Clairton facility since last September, when a blast in one of two control rooms killed one man and injured another.
