10-year-old girl Injured in San Francisco Area School Bus Accident

It amazes me every time I read about personal injury cases, because it seems with a reasonable amount of awareness they could be prevented. In either case this accident occurred while a school bus was making a left turn at an intersection. Two children were crossing the street and a 10 year old girl was hit by the bus.

Since reports say the bus was in the process of making a turn, I'm assuming the driver slowed down to make this turn. When I drive I tend to slow down to ensure I make a clean turn and am aware of stray pedestrians. It seems the bus driver did not have the good fortune of seeing the 10 year old girl crossing the street, and now depending on the courts he may be held liable along with his employer.

According to the article...

"A pedestrian accident in Milpitas resulted in injuries for a 10-year-old girl the afternoon of January 5, 2011. KTVU News reports that the injury car accident occurred close to the intersection of Edsel Drive and Roswell Drive when two girls were walking in a marked crosswalk. One of the girls was hit by a school bus that was attempting a left turn. The girl was injured, but is expected to survive. Her friend escaped without any injuries. An investigation is ongoing."

What do you think about this situation? A school bus hitting school children... It seems a bit shaky to me...

Luckily no one was killed...
