In Riverside county on January 15th 2011 5 individuals were in a car accident and it seems to be due to drug use. Riverside's I-10 highway has gained notoriety as the nation's second deadliest road for car accidents. So says a Fox network news study, which reported that 182 lives were lost in a five-year period due to Riverside car accidents on the I-10. The same study also revealed that California has four of the country's top 10 most accident-prone roads.
The amount of car accidents each day remind me of an interview with a famous Nascar driver. He mentioned how when he is on the track he feels safe because he can trust that the people driving next to him are responsible and in control of their vehicles. However, when on the public roads it seems people have not gone through sufficient training to warrant having a license.
I sympathize with the injured and pray that they have a speedy recovery.
Below is an excerpt from the article:
>> A Riverside car accident the morning of January 15, 2011 resulted in injuries for five people, including 20-year-old Skye Shields and a 7-year-old girl who were critically hurt. The Press-Enterprise reports that the injury car accident occurred on Stetson Avenue when a 2008 Toyota driven by Shields crossed over the double yellow line and crashed head-on with a Nissan driven by 35-year-old Latito Hasten. Hasten's 7-year-old daughter was critically injured while he and his 4-year-old daughter were transported to an area hospital with less serious injuries. Shields' passenger was also injured. Police say alcohol or narcotics were likely factors in this car accident. <<
