Personal Injury
A woman in California is suing Google maps for a personal injuy claim, claiming their directions sent her down an unsafe road, which resulted in her being hit by a car.
The woman, Lauren Rosenberg says she followed directions that she had been provided with from Google Maps and that they led her onto a highway, which had no pedestrian walkway or sidewalk, and on which she was struck by a car.
Reports claim the woman is suing Google for $100,000 in medical costs and also looking to sue them for punitive damages. She is also going to sue the driver who struck her, Patrick Harwood.
Ms. Rosenberg claims that the directions never mentioned that the road, Deer Valley drive (Highway 224), was unsafe for walking. However, it has come to light that it is mentioned on the directions. Ms. Rosenberg's rebuttal is that she accessed the directions on her Blackberry and that the warning did not appear on that.
